Quick n Easy Quesadillas

Take above ingredients...really hard, try to remember: Tortillas and Cheese. Pre-heat skillet, spray with cooking spray, add 1 tortilla. When lightly brown and slightly crispy-flip!

Add desired cheese....pictured with a little pepper jack with colby jack on top!

Fold in half, SMASH!
When cheese is melted and tortilla crisp, you're all done! Serve in slices with Sour Cream and Salsa...

My kiddos love these things...very simple snack! Turn it into a meal out of it by adding some meat: try leftover taco meat or canned chicken and serve with beans or rice!

Let me know what you think!!!

Mud and Recipes...!?

While cleaning the house Thursday I got frustrated with little boys undoing everything I had done, so I sent them outside to eat popsicles while I vacuumed the living room. After I got done vacuuming, 5 minutes later, I walk outside to tell the boys to come in and eat dinner...This is what I found.

Apparently, they thought mud wrestling/throwing was a great idea...I informed them otherwise with butt-whoopin's, hosed them off and gave them a bath. UGH! Little boys!!

On another note, I had previously mentioned wanting to add some recipes with pics to my blog. I have fallen short on this task this week due to being sick from the heat, recovering, and getting the housework done. SO, here is my first attempt at this, so bare with me.

PORK ROAST: an old-fashioned, one pot meal, a family fave.

This is a very simple, delicious dinner, can't beat that. Typically this comfort food is served in the winter time, but it sounded good so here's how its done.

Shopping List:

Pork Roast (I used Boston Butt this time)
several baking potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks
baby carrots
onion
celery
cooking spray
seasoning

First you want to sear the meat to lock in all the juiciness and flavor. To do this I spray the meat on all sides, lightly, with cooking spray. Weird, I know, but stay with me. I do this so the seasoning sticks to the meat while browning. Rub the meat down good with seasoning, don't be shy. I use seasoning that would taste good on a steak: Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Creole seasoning, and lots of salt and pepper. Spray a medium-heated skillet and add the roast. Brown on all sides quickly. You don't want the meat to actually cook in the skillet or it will turn out tough.

After the meat is browned, place the roast in a crock pot. Add desired amount of potatoes, carrots, onion, and celery. I use a lot of potatoes, they seem to go fast. Dakota made me put in a bunch of carrots just for him, so...do what you wish. I, this time, did not add any onion or celery, I'm the only one who likes it and I didn't want to mess with it. The onion and celery do provide excellent flavor to the rest of the food though, even if you don't particularly like them.

Next, add enough water to the crock pot to cover the meat. Depending on the size of the roast cooking time will vary. Thursday, I put the crock pot on High and the average sized roast was done in about 3-3.5 hours. For a slower cooked roast, place on low and should be done between 6-8 hours.

Make sure meat is fully cooked and veggies are tender, then serve. Who doesn't love a meal that easy!? Nearly fool proof I'd say. Here is a single pic of the crock pot doing its thing....

Have a better or easier Pork Roast recipe? Feel free to share, I'm always willing to try different things. On another note, if there is a recipe or type of food you'd like to see on my blog, let me know! We'll work something out.

Let me know what you think!!!!

Random

Here are some new and old pics combined...

Here is an action shot of the resetting target

Brian and his make-shift gas tank previously mentioned...he needed to refuel and here is proof...too bad he couldn't have moved his right arm a little to show the cigarette dangling dangerously off his lip LOL

Here are some random details from the past weekend.

Friday was a great day. Went to the city and got my blood work done. Drove to my parent's to pick the boys up and we had fun driving around. We went to the mall, Bass Pro, Chick-Fil-A, etc...they were excellent for me. Kinda made me wonder if my parent's hadn't replaced them with some other kids lol.

Saturday we went out and helped Scott's aunt Verna on her house. Played a race against the rain, got hot and went fishing. Didn't catch anything, but had good company.

Sunday for Father's day it was kind of spur of the moment activities. Loaded up a bunch of guns and went to shoot at Becky and Brian's. Scott rode on the tractor with Brian for awhile, so I took the boys swimming at the pool. Pat had a snake in her bathroom...wtf...? so we got that taken care of. Came back to our house and Becky and I made dinner for Terry for Father's Day. Kinda boring but oh well. After dinner we sat around watched a couple movies trying to keep Scott up. Pat was out walking late and wouldn't be able to sleep (due to steroids) so we invited her over to watch a movie with us. Then we went to bed...it was a pretty good weekend overall. Not many details but that's the gist.

It's Monday and Scott is working nights for awhile. Maybe I'll be more motivated to post specific details later....we'll see.

Manic Monday

Well my Monday was overall pretty shitty. Woke up in a good mood, didn't do much, took a nap, all sounds nice...but turned to shit. I went to FS with Becky and Connery and my boys. We picked Pat up from work and went to El Charros for lunch. After lunch we went to Wal-Mart and waited around there for awhile, browsing and waiting for Becky's van to get tires put on. On our way back home we decided we should go swimming. The pools are closed on Mondays, so we went to the lake. My boys had fun swimming and splashing. Connery wasn't crazy about the water this time. I waded around in the water with the boys. After swimming for less than an hour I had an overwhelming feeling something was wrong. I wanted to leave. When I got home, I found Scott, who was in the pissiest mood. After that it was all down hill. We fought for a couple hours over tiny things. I went to bed still extremely pissed off at him. Most days I love him and other days I f-ing hate him....I hated him yesterday. I didn't even want to be near him let alone have a conversation with him, but to prevent more fighting, I suck it in and bottle it up. We haven't had a fight like that in years, it was ridiculous. I'm still so irritated at the whole situation that I don't even feel like posting about the details. He was mean and hateful and I didn't want to be married to him yesterday. Of course men let things like that go pretty easily, so this morning he was fine. Meanwhile all I could think about was getting him outta the house for him to go to work. I guess we'll see how today goes.....

Better luck next time

It has been a long week since my last post. I feel this morning would be the prime opportunity to change that. Don't have a whole lot to rant and rave about today, but, nonetheless, here are the details of my last week.

Last week was a weird one. I mowed Pat's yard, did a lot of housework, tried to keep the boys occupied, worked on Scott's truck, and other minor things. The week flew by like that of a busy week, however, it wasn't all that busy. My weekend was off to a weird start b/c of Scott's crazy Thursday work schedule. He worked Thursday afternoon into Friday morning and was done until this morning. Friday he slept in awhile, but still managed to shoot his bow, spend time with us and Becky, Dreyton, and Connery during the day. I have some funny stories about Connery, but don't feel up to writing them all. Friday evening had been scheduled for fishing, but for some reason it just didn't happen. Instead, Dale, Brian, Becky, Pat, Connery, Scott, the boys and I sat around on the front porch and b.s.ed about random things. A lazy evening for sure, but not necessarily boring.

Saturday I woke up early, did some finishing touches on housework, and prepared lunch. Sheridan planned to come over for lunch so a nice meal was in order. My version of a nice meal consisted of Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Fried Onions, Peas, and Strawberry Shortcake. It all turned out well I thought. Sheridan stuck around for a little while chatting with me and trying to get the boys to talk to her (which was a failure in the least sense of the word). She had plans to be in FS and left. Scott and I took the boys over to Pat's and shot a few rounds of 9mm and some .22. At that point, I was ready for a nap. I encouraged Scott and the boys to come home and take a nap with me before going fishing. We all agreed that would be a great idea. Becky was going to head home and feed Brian and they would go fishing with us later that afternoon/evening. After a frustrating, unsuccessful attempt at a nap, Scott and I watched a movie. We got bored and decided we needed to start fishing close to home until Brian and Becky came into town. Pat came over with us and we headed to the fairgrounds to put some poles in the water. Brian did not feel up to going fishing after his nap so Becky came into town with Connery and followed us from one fishin' hole to the next. It was pretty ridiculous. She won't bait hooks, throw a cast, watch poles, or anything. She just sits there. While Scott and I were struggling to keep our bait on the hooks and the boys outta the lake, we started getting pretty pissed off. We started taking out our frustrations on each other. It wasn't pretty. I got my spinner reel birdsnested and it almost became lake decoration. I also managed to get behind Scott while he was trying to reel one in and got whacked with a pole in the hand (still hurts like a bitch and is bruised). After Becky finally left Scott and I were too pissed off to fish hard. The fish were biting, we just couldn't keep up with all the poles in the water. Very frustrating when there are 4 adults, 4 poles and 3 children and only 2 of the adults were doing anything but sit on their asses. Fishing at night is a boring adventure, most of the time, but there is still constantly things to be done. The little catfish were taking small bites: enough to steal all the bait, but not enough to grab onto the hook and go with it. So you can understand my frustration at this. We finally gave up and came home, watched part of a movie and went to bed.

Sunday we woke up late and were pretty slow getting around. I love days when you don't have to immediately pop outta bed, into your clothes, and walk out the door. Out of boredom we went to Pat's and Scott shot his bow a little. He managed to lose an arrow, get pissed off at me about it, and that's about it. Becky and Brian came into town. We had discussions about afternoon activities and opted to go "seining". Driving from one creek, to another, to another was pretty pointless in the grand scheme of things, but was not boring for sure. The kids loved playing in the river, splashing, walking around in the water, the wildlife, it was very cool. The seining amounted to catching a total of 3 minnows and about 30 crawdads. Oh well, everyone else seemed to have a good time. I wish I would have taken pictures. After that we went to Pat's, ate dinner, came home, watched a movie and went to bed.

In retrospect the weekend wasn't all that bad. Kind of a wasted weekend not doing much, but oh well. Not to mention minor Becky drama, which is always fantastic. Today I have planned to go to FS with Becky and do some running around down there. Kinda boring, but I'll be outta the house. I really need to be doing some dishes instead of typing this post, but you understand my priorities. Sorry to my follower(s) about not having an exciting post, better luck next time I guess.

Thank Goodness It's Monday!!!!!!!!

Well this weekend has been an interesting one and worth sharing to those who care to read it, so hear goes.

It all started on Friday. I had gotten the house cleaned up on Thursday, therefore Friday was my day of rest. After doing nothing most of the day, Scott's drunk dad comes by, confused and irrate about thinking it was Saturday....wtf? I tell him to straighten up in a not so polite manner and showed him the way out. I did not feel like doing much on my day of rest so I convinced Scott to figure out what his mom and sister were doing for dinner (mostly for me to avoid dirtying my kitchen). Pat was still at work in FS and Becky would not answer her phone. After Scott gets home from a trying day, we continue to pursue his family. I finally bit the bullet and called Brian to find out where Scott's sister was. He wasn't sure and was also unable to get ahold of her, but assured me she would be into town shortly to retrieve Dreyton from his visit to his dad's. Okay, some progress. Scott and I drove around town, running mindless errands, until we spotten Becky's vehicle at the grocery store. SCORE! I ran in quickly and suggested my plans of going to her place for dinner, by inviting my family out there. She agrees and we attempt to rummage through the grocery store to find something appropriate for dinner. We shared responbsibility in the purchase of said dinner items and left. She still had to wait in town until it was time to pick Dreyton up. We proceed to go to her place to shoot .22s. We arrive to Becky and Brian's to find Brian's mom tilling their garden. Poor woman, 80+ degrees and she's tilling a garden. We visit with her for awhile until she left, then went to shoot. After shooting, Brian got home and started working on his bale stinger, which is another story on its own. Becky and Scott's mom arrive with the meat to be grilled for dinner. Becky insisted I grill the meat so I light her grill and begin grilling, all while the four children were playing outside being typical boys. After scarfing down some deliciously grilled meat we sat on the front porch and B.S.ed for awhile. Brian's parents had returned and joined our conversations. The kids continued to play until it got dark and we shuffled them into the house for some relaxing TV time. Dreyton picked what we watched, to avoid arguing with him anymore than we already had that night, he decided on The Smurfs on DVD. Hurray! Becky, Pat, the four children and I all sat inside watching Smurfs while Scott and Brian worked on the bale stinger. Everyone, except myself, eventually crashed on their respective seating. I encouraged Scott to hurry, as the clock read 12am. We load my sleepy boys into their carseats and head home for some much needed sleep.

Saturday we woke up a little late, but considering the circumstances of the previous night, it was necessary. Scott and I decided to scrounge up lumber to make the deer blind, which has now been named "The Hunting Hut". To obtain the needed lumber, we needed to go to Scott's uncles. Scott's uncle lives south of Mapleton, north of Scott's grandmas house. He has at least one of anything you would ever need for a construction project. The lumber we retrieved was that of an old deck that had been torn down. Scott, the boys, and I dig through piles of this lumber to find what we needed, load it up, and head home. In the midst of all this, I was sent to retrieve Scott's dad's nail guns and air compressor, which took longer than originally planned, due to lack of organization, but succeeded. Everyone else in Scott's family was down at Good Ol Days so we started building by ourselves. Colton and Dakota were extremely helpful at gopher-ing. The boys kept their day interesting by switching back and forth from helping us to digging in the dirt to singing to the radio. Scott had done a lot of work when his dad showed up at the perfect time, to help us flip our platform over. Terry stuck around helping Scott, giving me a chance to sit back, relax and figure out what was for dinner. I decided hot dogs and brats were a superb idea. Terry finished helping Scott with as much as we could accomplish for the day. We now need more lumber to finish the project. Terry left. We ate. Scott, bored, decided to get ahold of his Mom and see what she was doing for the evening. She was bored also. Becky had returned from Good Ol Days and visited Brian where he was haying. After Brian got done for the night we all wanted to play cards. In the plan to avoid my house getting trashed, I suggest card playing at Pat's, which everyone was up for. At 9pm when we sit down to play cards, while Becky looks through the cabinets of her Mom's house to find something to feed her family. They had not eaten dinner yet, due to Becky's lack of cooking. Becky found items to make Grilled Cheese and makes her mother cook them for her and her family. Meanwhile, Scott and I wait to play cards. While Becky was feeding her face, Dreyton decided he was going to argue and throw a fit about what color plate he ate off of. This was completely expected behavior from him. After threatening and arguing with him for an unreasaonable amount of time, he finally ate off the green plate instead of the red one he had been wanting. After Brian finished eating his burnt grilled cheese he heads to the back porch for a break, Scott and I follow for conversation and cool air. Becky decides she needs to be in the middle of it and comes outside with Connery and the remainder of her food to eavesdrop and butt in. Connery kept trying to get off the porch and Becky insisted on bitching at Brian for him not helping her out while she was trying to eat. Brian simply said, "if you spent less time bitching and more time chewing, this wouldn't be a problem. Stuff it in your mouth and call it done." Good argument Brian! We went back inside to play cards, finally. All the kids, except Connery, had passed out while watching a movie. He began to get cranky and very annoying, bawling for what seemed like forever, while we continue to play Phase 10. While Becky held Connery at the table, trying to play cards, he finally went to sleep for good. He had had several moments where he was asleep and was woken up by Becky hurrying to lay him down, which drug the process out entirely too long. Becky made some rude comments about not winning at the card game and we continued to play. After the clock struck 12:30 we decided to call it quits in the middle of the game. Scott and I load the boys up and head home to bed.

Sunday morning I woke up at a decent time and made waffles. We needed Brian to come into town with his truck and trailer to haul our partial deer blind to our hunting spot so Scott, his mother, the boys and I truck out to Becky and Brian's until they got around. Scott and Colton shot a few rounds while we waited. After shooting, Scott got on the 350 and went into the pasture to pick up a bale with the bale stinger they had welded on Friday night. Becky comes out to observe, as usual. Becky, Brian, Dreyton and Connery load into Brian's truck with trailer attached and head to our house. The rest of us followed. With everyone at our house, Scott, Brian and I shove the 10.5' x 6.5' x 6.5' platform on to the trailer with all our might while Pat and Becky watch. Everyone heads to Mapleton to drop it off. We all got down there, inspected our disappointing food plot, then tried to find an appropriate place for the enormous platform. After finding a suitable spot, Scott, Brian, and I shove it off the trailer. We killed a little time, B.S.ing and resting, then headed to Scott's grandmas house nearby. Brian had had his '47 parked there for 6 months and decided to take it home. Pat, my boys, and I were in our truck, while Scott drove Becky and her boys in Brian's truck with trailer. Brian preferred Scott driving than Becky b/c of the gooseneck....and believe me when I say this was a smart decision on Brian's part knowing Becky. Brian jumps the '47 as usual and we head out. While the '47 sat for 6 months the gas tank started to rust. This caused problems getting chunks of crap into the fuel lines and the '47 kept dying every half mile or so on the trip back to Becky and Brian's. I don't know why they didn't load the '47 onto the trailer that was available, but whatever. After several stops, Brian decides he is going to invent a makeshift gas tank to get home. This make shift gas tank consisted of a 20 oz Mountain Dew bottle and electrical tape.....that's Brian for ya haha. This gas tank took him about 2 miles and needed refilled. After several pitstops for fuel we eventually made it to the finish line, Brian's parent's house. Scott took Brian's truck to their house and I go to pick up Brian in our truck. After explaining the comical situation to Brian's parents and Boie and Tara we headed to Becky and Brian's. Scott offered to help Brian attach a canopy to the 1066 for some much needed shade. They looked at the instructions and started to attach the brackets to the fenders. Becky was not going to allow this. With the canopy attached it would remove the "passenger seat" from the fenders. Becky threw a HUGE fit about it and suggested it be mounted differently to allow for a second rider. For it to be mounted differently, the canopy would only provide shade on part of the driver and would look retarded. Brian said no, it would be mounted correctly. This is where the fight started. Becky started bitching at Brian for not realizing he has a family and would have other riders and for being self-ish. Brian made a great point in saying they never ride with him when he's out in the field, but maybe once or twice a year, so it didn't matter. Becky rebutted with the self-ish comments again as Brian threw the canopy off the tractor and got down. He told her to buy him a new tractor with a cab and a/c and he could strap carseats in it like a family-mobile so EVERYONE could ride. Scott and I listened to this ridiculous argument as we laugh inside our heads. We both knew Brian was right. After a heated argument between Becky and Brian about him being self-ish and him needing to realize he has a family, then to her needing to get a job so he wouldn't have to cut hay, etc....Brian storms off and turns in to a "dick" and "asshole" according to Becky. Wow... Pat, Scott, and I kept looking at each other wondering what to do now. Scott followed Brian to give him some company and let him vent a little. While Becky is sulked and mentioned how worthless Brian was, Boie and Tara show up on their 4wheelers. Thank goodness someone had arrived to lighten the mood a little. Boie b.s.ed with Scott and Brian, Tara visited with the rest of us until Becky started bitching to her about Brian. Tara obviously got pissed off and walked away. Come to find out she went to Scott, Brian, and Boie and bitched about Becky ha. After what seemed like forever Brian decides to avoid Becky at all costs by hauling the 1066 to Mapleton to work up our food plot. Pat, my boys and I decide we were going to go to the grocery store to get something for dinner. Becky insisted she follow us. We all go into the store where I get stuck with Dreyton, Colton, and Dakota making scenes in front of the meat department. After scoulding them several times I grabbed some hotdogs and made my way to the check out, annoyed. While checking out, Pat and Becky appeared with Connery to check out as well. We made our respective purchases and I rearranged the cooler in the back of our truck to accomodate such items. I ran home to grab our Weber and propane and headed to Mapleton to fix dinner on the tailgate. Once arriving back to Mapleton, I got a scoulding from Scott's uncle about being courteous and such. Being confused on the entire situation I tried to find Brian and Scott to warn them about Scott's uncle being upset. I'm still not entirely sure what went on between Scott, his uncle and Brian, but immediately wanted to leave. We waited around until Brian got done running the chisel through our food plot and headed back to Becky and Brian's to grill. After pulling into the drive way I started grilling our hotdogs on the tailgate, all the kids were playing in the dirt, all seemed well. Brian's parents were out in the pasture checking on the cows and Becky starts in about them. This hurts my feelings when she bitches about Brian's parents, they are the nicest people in the world and mean to cause no trouble. Brian's parents pulled up by the tailgate where I was grilling and we chat for a few minutes. Becky made some unnecessary, rude comments toward them and they leave. Becky kept bitching, this time, at the 4 boys for being too rough and wild outside, dragging toys out, tying toys together and other misc. bullshit. I ignore her attitude and focus on the grill. After the all beef hotdogs, which is the only kind Dreyton and Connery can have, were finished I told Becky the food was done. She yells at the children to come eat. They don't. I walk over to them and reason with them. The faster they ate the faster they could get back to playing. They agree that's a good compromise and head toward the food. I fixed the boys their hotdogs and sat down to eat my own. Connery, in the midst of everything, had gotten mad at Becky and threw his hotdog at Becky, ketchup, mustard, bun and all. She makes him ANOTHER one! So in response to this when Dakota tripped and dropped his half-eaten hotdog I said to Dakota "These are the expensive hotdogs, you're not getting another one, too bad. You can eat something else." In hopes to somehow knock some sense into Becky about her parenting I was overly harsh on Dakota. I felt bad about it too. Scott and Brian eventually return from delivering the 1066 to another spot to be hayed. They ate. I was exhausted from the heat and listening to all the bitching. I was ready to go home, crawl into bed in a fetal position and sleep for a few days. So we packed up and proceeded to say our goodbyes. Dreyton was not happy about us leaving and threw a big fit, as usual. I heard tons of threats but never saw anything followed through, as usual. Once we got on the road I had to take a deep breath in relief that the weekend was over. Scott and I came home, he took a shower, we all sat on the couch and watched a movie. Colton and Dakota had been incredibly good the entire weekend and I was so proud of them. After the movie was over, we climbed into bed.

That's how my weekend went. There are many details left out due to lack of being able to remember them all, but you get the idea. If you happen to know Becky, then I'm sure you can imagine the gravity of it all. There aren't hours in the day for me to tell you about all the things she has said or done that are similar what I have mentioned above. I am actually glad its Monday this week, b/c I know that means atleast a few days with no Becky drama. TGIM.

TGIF!

Yesterday was a decent day. I got A LOT accomplished and still managed to rest a little throughout the day. Hurray for me and my new found skill of time management :). Yesterday morning was kind of scary at first. The boys were fighting like gasoline and a lit match and the house was the victim of their "explosion". After several scoldings and a few butt whooping they started behaving. Thank goodness. After that the rest of the day was easy as pie, for the most part. I was so wrapped up into getting the house clean and getting laundry done, I forgot about planning anything for dinner...well that didn't make Scott too happy when he called on his way home and wondered what we were having. Whoops. I quickly got together some stuff to make Tacos. After my three hungry men ate dinner all was well. Scott decided we needed to go have Colton shoot the SKS. So we truck out to Becky's and set our targets up and let him shoot a couple rounds. If Colton can get a 6" group at 50 yards with the SKS, Scott will take him deer hunting for youth season this fall!! So cheer Colton on! Colton shot two shots, 10" group at 40 yards, he has time to improve though, have no fear. Scott shot his .41 Mag to see where it was at. Scott shot a 3" group at 30 yards with it! Surprising with hot-loaded ammo. The .41 mag is a chambering in between the popular .357 mag and .44 mag. More knockdown than a .357, but better ballistics than a .44. After shooting we stopped by Becky's house to visit with her and Connery for a few minutes. Connery was in a good, funny mood: giggling and such. He can be a sweetie at times. Becky was also very pleasant to be around. It started to get late so we headed home to take showers and relax on the couch for a little while. Once we got home, we immediately jumped in the shower and hurried out to watch a movie on TV. Scott played around on the net (mostly gun and gun accessory websites, such as MidWayUSA). All of a sudden I hear a knock on the door...hmm, who could that be. I figured it was Scott's mom stopping by during her walk, but come to my surprise it was PAPA DENNIS and DI-DI! haha The boys were thrilled and instantly started tackling my dad as if he were an enemy football player about to score a touchdown. Dad and Scott talked a little, my mom and I chatted a little, it was a very pleasant, but short visit. Dad was tired so he was ready to head home, which sadly, I was ready for bed myself and didn't object to them leaving. After they left, we went to bed. Scott didn't have to leave the house until 5:45 this morning, instead of 5:15, so I slept in a whole hour: til 4:45 haha. I am hoping today is a good day. I already feel accomplished and don't have a long to-do list b/c of yesterdays success. I need to reward the boys for being good this week (their average behavior for the week). So I'm going to surprise them with a surprise visit to the park today! Hurray for Fridays!

OT: I finally got the camera out of Scott's truck and decided to unload the SD card. Here's a few random pics of Memorial Day weekend @ Hillsdale and Colton shooting last night. ENJOY!

Well here's a brief summery of my last two days.

Tuesday: Was an eh....day. Got up early, as usual, did a few things around the house, and started to head over to the MIL's to mow. On our way out, Colton wanted to grab something, he ran toward the porch, tripped and busted open his chin and bit threw his skin under his lip from hitting the porch step. Great...His lip instantly swelled and bruised as he dripped blood all over the porch. Took him to the pharmacy and got him some stuff to ease the pain and keep the wounds clean. Went to MIL's to mow, started mowing, and SIL shows up for a brief second to wash her hands....(?), finished mowing, and came home. An hour later SIL comes by the messy house and offers to take us to lunch at Jayhawk-Inn. We agree and walk there. Connery was loud and wouldn't eat. I ate too much and was very disappointed in the pit's Blackberry Cobbler. The boys got some ice cream and we came home. Scott spent all evening playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. We didn't watch any movies and went to bed.

Wednesday: was kind of a waste. I got up at the usual time 3:45, but this time I had to get the boys and I around to leave with Scott. We head to the city, he takes me to my parents and heads to work. After visiting with my parents and sister for a few hours it was time for me to go to my routine prenatal visit while the boys stayed and played. At my dr visit I found that I had gained 5 lbs since May 6th!!! Which was sad but great! at the same time. So far I'm up 9 lbs total.

for some reason i have no motivation to finish this post lol. i'll continue it later :) Sorry to leave ya hangin.

A mix tape of emotions

Monday was worthless. I did not get anything accomplished....and I might be exaggerating a little. Here is what I did get done: sleeping, feeling miserable, lost the boys' new turtle. Monday's are a tough enough way to spend 1/7th of your life, let alone one like this. It was one of those days where I shouldn't have gotten out of bed. We've all had days like that and yesterday was one of mine. Moral of the story: I have TONS to do today: before the rain, before my dr. appt. tomorrow, etc.

After Scott got home from work last night, it was a pretty lazy evening. I started to feel a little better and ventured to the store to get frozen pizza for dinner. I talked with Scott's mom a little on how her 1st round of chemo went. It took longer than the expected 4.5 hours, but she was feeling okay. She visits with a doctor Thursday and has a PET scan Monday. After a quiet evening of lounging in front of the t.v. watching movies like Leatherheads and The Animal it was time for bed.

Note: last night before hitting the pillow I had stepped outside to retrieve Scott's lunchbox out of his truck and had a creative moment, this is what yielded from that.....

Summer-

Still trees,
Starry sky,
Warm air,
I wonder why

Crickets chirping,
Street lights on,
Flowers blooming,
It will soon be gone

Grills sizzling,
love growing,
bees buzzing,
skin showing

Children laughing,
out at play,
If only this could be
every day...

Over soon,
it will be,
Enjoy it now,
for you will see

Okay, that poem sucked, compared to the caliber of poetry I used to right. Give me a break it's been years since I've written a poem...IDK if any more inspiration will encourage me to write more poetry now, but you never know....

Worth the wait?

Yes, I'm still alive. I haven't had a decent post in awhile and I don't know if this one is going to be any different. Just a random update on the last few days' excitements.

Let's start from the beginning.

Memorial day weekend was a nice and an enjoyable start to the summer, as it should be. We went to Hillsdale to camp with Scott's cousin, her husband, and their two kids on Saturday. It was hot. We went swimming in the surprisingly warm lake, grilled some good food, witnessed some interesting things, and came home. The next day we napped and went fishing at the Pleasanton East City Lake with Scott's other cousin. Didn't catch much, a few "throw 'em backs", but enjoyed the weather. That day I also received a message from a friend who I had not seen or heard from in along time...very surprising and yet exciting! Memorial day, itself, sucked. We spent the day painting the kitchen, picking up the house, and avoided the rain.

Last week wasn't anything spectacular, did a lot of housework, not much fun for me or the boys.
Friday my mom and dad came down and snuck the boys to KC for the weekend. To celebrate a Friday night without the kids we went to eat dinner with Scott's mom and sister and Connery. We went to JJ's in Blue Mound (Also referred to as Bollings BBQ) which has recently reopened. We got a bloomin' onion as an appetizer, I ordered burnt ends with baked beans and baked potato. I was sooooo stuffed I was miserable. Scott and I came home, watched a movie and went to bed. Saturday we woke up late, enjoyed not having to wake up early due to work or children. We did a few errands and went to shoot .22s competitively. Scott beat me by a few points...what else is new lol. After that we got ready for Danyell and Mike's wedding.

The wedding was short, sweet, and beautiful. The reception was GORGEOUS. It looked so elegant! I can't describe how wonderful everything looked. Danyell did a wonderful job!! We ate dinner and visited with other guests while Scott drank and drank and drank.... We left the reception at 11pm (after being there, with an open bar, since 6:30). Drove through Sonic to get Scott a greasy cheeseburger to curb his drunkenness and came home. While at home, we waited up to let him sober up a little and finally caved in to our exhaustion at 12:30. I was woke up at 1:30 by the bathroom door slamming, the light flickering on, and the sound of a lot of liquid hitting the floor. GREAT! Scott had gotten sick in the middle of the night, thanks to all the beer, wine, and champagne he had drank. He apparently had made it to the toilet, but hadn't bent over before letting all the booze come out the way it went in. Needless to say, I need a new shower curtain now ha! I got up to help comfort him, instantly got nauseous at the smell, and decided I'd be better off staying in bed. After he came back to bed, I could not sleep. I stayed up for a few hours and finally crashed. (Thanks hun!) I woke up at 7am to the shower running, he'd gotten up and decided to shower. We stayed up for about 10 minutes and went back to bed for awhile.

When we finally woke up for good, the boys had arrived home! They had brought with them a turtle they had found, which is now their pet. Hurray...lol. They told me about going to see the movie UP! Saturday night with my mom (which they LOVED by the way). We fixed the lawnmower tire, finished mowing our yard, and headed over to see Scott's mom. I mowed her yard for a few minutes, until the sound of the lawn mower irritated Scott's hangover and was forced to stop. We grilled cheeseburgers for lunch and I got sick. My body couldn't handle the heat, obviously. It was an unbearable 92 degrees at 2 pm, so we decided air conditioning sounded good. We came to our house, with Scott's mom, watched Wall-E, made some homemade ice cream, and watched Changeling. Kind of boring, but relaxing day.

I have several things on the agenda today: clean the house up, laundry, getting a suitable "house" for pet turtle, and finish mowing Scott's mom's yard. Maybe there will be some fun for the boys and I tomorrow...
