Weekend Plans, Out The Window

Well this weekend was pretty well a waste. We had had plans to take up the entire weekend, but for some reason they all went to shit. Scott got off early on Thursday and was home by 3pm. Thursday night we went to shoot for awhile and went to Pat's to eat tacos and watch a movie we had rented. Friday we woke up at a decent time and went to shoot a little, went to Paola to go to Wal-Mart with Becky, Connery, and Dreyton. They didn't need to go to Wally world so we tried to hurry while they walked around. Well I guess that pissed them off, b/c they left walmart without getting everything they needed...okay!? Friday night we sat around Pat's, let the boys play before Dreyton had to go to his dads. This is very interesting and annoying at the same time. Seems like everytime all four of the boys get together it stresses me out and I get PISSED. I was about to pull my hair out! Eventually, Becky left with Connery and the rest of us went inside to watch a movie and I ordered some pizza. Saturday morning came too quickly. We needed to be out of bed early to be out to Sugar Valley for tee off of Pat's tournament. We were there an hour and felt like statues. There was really no reason to be there, so we left. Went home and cleaned up the house a little, tried to find Scott's cousin who was down for the weekend to maybe go swimming. Well by that time the tournament was over and we went back out to Sugar Valley to watch the raffle. The boys swam for a little while and played on the play equipment while the raffle was going on. I go soooo severly annoyed at Scott's sister it isn't funny. She was there, with her two boys, trying to hold her raffle tickets while they both were whining. 4 times I watched Connery get carried away from the raffle bawling and come back, only to start bawling again. Then I noticed Pat had both Connery and Dreyton on her lap for awhile. This was ridiculous. Pat having this tournament in her benefit, being sick from chemo, being exhausted from working all the time, and she has to deal with Becky's kids!? Not to mention I'm surprised she didn't die of suffocation Saturday. It looked hard to breathe with Becky being surgically attached to her all day. Ridiculous! Scott and I got pissed off that our plans weren't being put into affect so we left and went to KC. Came by my parents house, picked them up, and took them out to dinner at Red Lobster. It was very nice. No drama, no stress, nice. After dinner we went to best buy and bought a few movies, came back to mom and dad's watched one and headed home. It was late when we got home so waking up early Sunday wasn't a priority, even though we were still out of bed by 8. We lounged around and watched the other movies we bought and invited Pat to come with us to shoot. We shot for a little while and came home. I grilled burgers and mushrooms and we watched ANOTHER movie, haha, we're kinda movied out right now. It was a quiet evening. We all were really worn out for some reason and needed sleep. I was ready to drop at 6:30, but fought it until 9. Today I got up at 4:30 did my usual routine for the morning and this time decided to head up to my parent's for the day. So I'm at my mom and dad's right now, while Colby and Audrey have been keeping the boys entertained through various means (i.e., pillow fights, wrestling, etc) I have been typing this blog. I know this post isn't very detailed, but I don't want to get into all the emotion I felt all weekend. Being hormonal SUCKS! Less than 10 weeks before Haelie comes...

Happy Birthday Colton!

Today marks a huge milestone in Colton's life-he turns 5!! I know, I can't believe it either. This means Dakota's 4th birthday, school starting, and the arrival of Haelie is just around the corner. Wow...kind of overwhelming. This year we're doing a joint birthday party for Colton and Dakota on August 1st. This will be easier on me, planning one big party opposed to two small ones. My lack of energy to do a lot has certainly affected the housework completed. Today is about Colton though, I've already made breakfast of his choice: biscuits with butter and honey. We plan to go to the park while on a bike ride today and tonight I'll make him his request for dinner. The joint party idea is the most beneficial to the adults involved, so I'm trying to make today special for Colton. I will do the same for Dakota on his actual birthday.

FYI: I've been slacking with this blog and intend to do better. I will try to keep it updated more often. My life is about to get really busy for awhile, so I'll try to keep track of it all on here....bare with me.

Shootin'

Dakota is shooting "Haelie's Gun" it's a Walther P22 in Digital Pink Camo. (above)
A close up with weird camera settings (Yes I was playing) of the Walter P22.

Scott shooting the Kimber Tactical Elite II, .45ACP
Colton shooting the Ruger Charger .22
Dakota shooting the Ruger Charger .22
Scott shooting the Remington 270
Scott shooting the Ruger 7mm Rem Mag
Scott shooting my Ruger 7mm-08
As you can see, the weekend provided nothing of note, other than throwing multiple rounds down range. Scott worked on his side job most of the weekend, but we still tried to make time for some fun. The only other thing worth mentioning was our visit to Guy and RuthAnn's Saturday night. It was pleasant for the most part, b/c Becky was there...but we tried to make the most of it.

Impromptu Biscuit Snacks

Biscuit Snacks! for lack of a better term lol

It all started when I didn't feel like making a meal for dinner tonight...I opened the fridge and found a can of refrigerated country style biscuits (not Grands! or Buttermilk, but Country Style). Hmm I thought, what could I do with these....when I found a bag of shredded cheese....okay I can do this. So here's what happened next:

Biscuit can opened and out popped 10 little biscuits. I flattened each biscuit as much as I could, and put a pinch of shredded Colby Jack on it and rolled it up into a dinner roll shape. I did this to all 10 little biscuits. Next, I melted some butter and dipped each roll in it, set it on a sprayed baking dish while the oven preheated to 350 degrees (optimal temp for just about anything IMO). I sprinkled some seasoning on the tops of the buttered little biscuit/roll thingamabobs. I used garlic powder, minced onion, salt, pepper and parsley...sounded good at the time.

I popped those puppies into the oven for about 13 minutes (give or take a few seconds lol) until they were goldenish in color and no longer gooey. I removed them from the oven, set them out to cool, to a non-molten lava state, on a plate, while I warmed up some leftover spaghetti sauce to dip them in.

Let me tell you, while I was cleaning up my microwave from spaghetti sauce explosion, I turned around and saw little boys chomping down on the biscuit thingys....THEY LOVED THEM!!!

I did get to sneak a pic of one before it was devoured...

So, I guess those are something we'll make again, although next time I was requested to use more cheese...almost 4 and almost 5 year olds sure are culinary experts.....

We also did some Salt Dough sculptures tonight, but it was kind of a disaster...better luck next time I guess haha!
