HELP!

I have a plan to completely de-clutter the house. This is going to take weeks. And I refuse to start in this arctic weather, due to many trips planned for the trash compactor, etc. Although I need some suggestions on how to go about said plan.

Do I:
A.) Go room by room
B.) Start on specifics and go from there (clothes, books, etc.)

The reasoning behind this crazy idea is this. I have a small house, two adults and 3 little people live here. We have entirely! too much crap that we never use. We're getting a safe, need to make room for it, etc.

Next...what do I do with all the extra crap?

Do I:
A.) Garage sale
B.) Donate it
C.) Trash

I need some help getting motivation to do this too. I'm dreading it and I haven't even begun....

Too bad I don't live around your area anymore cuz I would totally help you come declutter! I love decluttering!!! Garage sales are always nice...that is if you want to hold onto the stuff until warmer weather comes around, which is not my thing. I always donated stuff that we didn't need anymore (toys, clothes, and household items) to the house there in Mound City that takes donation items (can't think what it's called at this moment) The nice thing about that is you just take it there sacks or boxes and just place it on their front porch whenever you have the time. And if you still don't feel like doing that...then just throw it all away :-D A love the feeling of walking into a nice, clean, decluttered house!!! Good luck!!!

I struggle with this so much, too. I like Freecycle.org for giving stuff away: people come pick it up and it keeps it out of the trash, and you don't have to mess around with trying to sell it. But on the other hand: no money from selling it. We don't live in a good area for garage sales (one year we were outside all day with TONS of stuff and we made $50) so it's not a big decision for me---but I still get stuck, like, wishing I could have back the money I paid for it!

That is the reason I have so much junk. I don't wanna give it away for nothing, even though I don't need it anymore. BUT I need to think of the bigger picture! Helping someone!
